HISTORY

We, Sônia Melo and Alfonso Bausilio, are former professional dancers at the Stadttheater Bern and have worked for many years at many international stages around the world. We are members of the “Association
Francaise Des Maitres De Danse” (Paris) and would like to pass on our extensive experience to interested students. Trained in the techniques of the VAGANOVA (Russian) and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance, England) methods, we have, however, developed our own technique and used it to train students who became successful dancers.

The ASBallet School was founded by us in Köniz near Bern in 1996. Guided by the principles of VAGANOVA (Russian) and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance, England), the RAD method initially seemed to us to be the ideal method for children between 4 and 6 years old. However, due to recurring trips to workshops and dance competitions in France, we realized that children were trained according to RAD principles and were not challenged enough technically. be promoted. We were in a phase of change and were looking for our own training style, which we have now found. The international success of some of our students as professional dancers at major theaters such as the Opéra de Paris, the Bejart Companie, in Rotterdam and the USA proves that we are right in our further development of training methods. We also took part in competitions with our students in France, Italy and the USA and achieved very good results. We regularly perform ballets with our students in the Bern City Theater.

As you can see, we have been successfully offering pre-professional training for many years. However, our school does not only want to train and further educate professional dancers, but in principle is aimed at all those who are committed to ballet. Whether they are children or adults, whether as a hobby or with the desire to become a professional dancer. We regularly take part in competitions with the students (mandatory!) in order to show the students where they stand in international comparison. Recognized ballet personalities take these exams, such as Mr. Denis Mattenet, director and founder of the Center de Danse de Montreux or Mr. Bertrand Baréna, professor at the École de Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris.

Since September 2008 there has been a second school in the city of Bern, on Zentweg (240 m2). Whether there or in Boll, our halls are bright and offer a pleasant atmosphere. The newest training center is in New York! As you can see, we are constantly working on expanding our offering internationally.
We are very pleased to welcome you too!
